Projects

Below are a couple of side projects I’ve worked on in my spare time.

Blonote

Blonote is a web application inspired by the eponymous book written by Tablo, frontman of Korean hip-hop group Epik High. It incorporates various instrumental versions of Epik High songs alongside quotes from Blonote, both of which users can shuffle through at their leisure. It also includes a “rainy day” feature, which adds a steady but gentle rainfall to the ambience.

The application leverages the YouTube API for all of the audio, as well as the background video, with some custom JavaScript for the controls. The code is viewable via my GitHub profile.

Gateway Korea Foundation

The Gateway Korea Foundation (GKF) is a non-profit organization based in St. Louis whose mission is to inspire cross-cultural appreciation and understanding among the local community in connection with Korean arts and cultural experiences.

A few years ago, I volunteered to help revamp GKF’s website, as I found it difficult to navigate, cluttered, and lacking in terms of overall design. With the input of GKF board members and users, I created a new layout and design that promoted a positive user experience while helping GKF tell their story more effectively.

Though the website looks substantially different now, the gallery to the right provides a glimpse of what the initial transformation looked like.
